Shahid-Mira to celebrate first Diwali with family

Bollywood’s newly-wed couple Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput will be celebrating their first Diwali together this year. The couple who just returned from a short trip to Sri Lanka on Sunday will be celebrating the festival with the whole family.

The couple will host an intimate dinner for family and close friends at the actor’s Juhu apartment. Mira’s family from Delhi is expected to join them, while Shahid’s mother Neelima Azim, father Pankaj Kapur, step-mom Supriay along with his siblings Ishaan, Sanah and Ruhan will also be present.

Shahid’s sister Sanah who recently made her debut in her brother’s film ‘Shaandaar’ said that it will be dual celebrations for the family this time. "It's going to be a double celebration as it's bhabhi's (Mira) first Diwali with us which comes soon after my acting debut. We are all so excited," she told Mumbai Mirror.

She also said that Mira has taken up the responsibility for making preparations for the party. Talking about the menu for the party, Sanah said, “All of us love Punjabi food so rajma, chana, paneer and mithai will definitely be on the menu. But don't ask me more, only bhabhi knows all the details."

She also added that she and Mira get along really well. "We hit it off even before the wedding. Mira is an amazing girl and has quickly become such an integral part of our family,” Sanah said.

Mira has won the hearts of the Kapoor family as both her mothers-in-law have praised her. While Neelima called her a “down-to-earth and grounded person”, Supriya said she is a “lovely daughter-in-law.” However, she said that she considers Mira as her own daughter.
