Shahid Kapoor turns a year older
Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor turns a year older on Thursday. Born on February 25, 1981 to actor parents Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azeem, Shahid as a child appeared in an advertisement for health drink Complan.
Before making his acting debut, Shahid, a trained dancer from Shiamak Davar’s dance institute, appeared as a background dancer in films like ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ and ‘Taal’. He also featured in a few music videos. His Bollywood debut was the 2003 sleeper hit ‘Ishq Vishk’ which won him the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award.
Although Shahid starred in a string of flops, he built a band of fans for himself due to his charming and chocolate boy looks. His films like ‘Vivah’ and ‘R...Rajkumar’ earned him commercial success, he was noted for his performance in ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Kaminey’ and received critical acclaim for his role in ‘Haider’ for which he received Filmfare Best Actor Award in 2015. He also starred in his father’s directorial debut ‘Mausam’ opposite Sonam Kapoor, but the film didn’t do well.
Shahid is a ladies’ man and was involved with a number of actresses before finally settling down with the lovely Mira Rajput whom he evidently loves very much. The duo had an arranged marriage in a private ceremony in July last year.
The ‘Shaandaar’ actor before entering Bollywood dated Hrishita Bhatt with whom he appeared in band Aryan’s music video ‘Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehera’. Afterwards, he was in a high-profile relationship with Kareena Kapoor. They came closer while working on their 2004 film ‘Fida’ but their whirlwind romance fizzled out within three years. He was briefly involved with his ‘Kaminey’ co-star Priyanka Chopra and was also linked with Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha.
Shahid will be next seen in Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Udta Punjab’ opposite Alia Bhatt. It also stars his former flame Kareena and is slated to hit theatres by mid-2016. He is currently busy shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Rangoon’, also starring Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan.
