‘Mastizaade’ release delayed to avoid clash with ‘Hate Story 3’

Former porn star Sunny Leone’s already delayed adult comedy ‘Mastizaade’ has been further delayed in view of a clash with upcoming erotic thriller ‘Hate Story 3’.

The Milap Zaveri directorial which was awaiting certification from censor board for six months was slated to release on December 4, alongside Vishal Pandya’s ‘Hate Stroy 3’. Apparantly, the makers of ‘Hate Story 3’ wanted a solo release and therefore asked the producers of ‘Mastizaade’ to enter theatres at a later date.

According to reports, Bhushan Kumar, producer of ‘Hate Story 3’ requested Pritish Nandy of ‘Mastizaade’ to release the film on a later date as both belong to the same genre and would eat into each other’s collection if they hit screens on the same day.

Pritish and Bhushan share a long standing relationship based on mutual respect. Moreover, Bhushan’s company T-Series has in the past released music of several films by Pritish’s production company, and also holds the music rights of ‘Mastizaade’.

Pritish agreed to the request as it would only benefit the commercial prospects of both the films.

‘Hate Story 3’ starring Karan Singh Grover, Daisy Shah, Zareen Khan and Sharman Joshi will release as per schedule on December 4, while ‘Mastizaade’, which also stars Tusshar Kapoor, Vir Das and has a brief appearance by Riteish Deshmukh, will now hit screens by mid-January, 2016.

However, ‘Hate Story 3’ will not have a solo release as now Pan Nalin’s ‘Angry Indian Goddesses’ (AIG) will also be releasing on December 4. The film which was slated to hit screens on November 27 has postponed the date in order to avoid a clash with Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Tamasha’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
