Estranged couple Ranvir-Konkona reunite for a film

Bollywood’s estranged couple Ranvir Shorey and Konkona Sen Sharma have reunited for the actress’ directorial debut 'A Death in The Gunj'. Ranvir who is a part of the movie said that he could not say no to the mother of his child.

“I told Konkona not to cast me in the film, but she insisted. Now when someone insists so much, and especially when the director is the mother of my child, how could I say no to her," the actor said at the launch of the first look of the movie and production company Macguffin Pictures yesterday (January 5).

Ranvir and Konkona who tied the knot in September 2010 after being in a long term relationship, parted ways last year after five years of marriage. The couple has a four-year-old soon Haroon.

Ranvir also said that Konkona is a very tender director. "I think, as an actress, she is a fabulous one. She understands what actors go through. She is very gentle, almost tender I would say. It is a rare quality in a director. I think, when she had not thought about making the film, I had told her to go ahead and do it because she had a fabulous idea. I didn't know that I would be a part of it," he added.

Konkana had maintained that she has no qualms in working with her estranged hubby as he’s a 'wonderful actor' and that they are still friends.

Speaking at the launch, Konkona revealed that she never had plans to be an actor or director. "Honestly, I never wanted to be an actor and I never thought I want to be a director either. But it's just that this particular story fascinated me for so long, a story that's been with me for so long...I didn't think I would write a script either," the actress said.

'A Death in The Gunj' also stars Vikrant Massey, Kalki Koechlin, Tanuja Mukherjee, Tilottama Shome, Gulshan Devaiah and veteran actor Om Puri.  Lyricist Gulzar and filmmaker-composer Vishal Bharadwaj unveiled the first look of the film along with the production house.

Konkona has teamed up for the second time with her 'Nayantara's Necklace' co-actors Tilottama and Gulshan.
